Senator Ayotte Receives Champion of Maritime Award

Portsmouth, NH  The American Maritime Partnership (AMP), the voice of the domestic maritime industry, recognized U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) Thursday with the 2016 Champion of Maritime Award. AMP honored Sen. Ayotte due to her extraordinary support and dedication to the American maritime industry. 

Sen. Ayotte’s longstanding support for U.S. maritime is demonstrated through her work as a member of the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs, and Senate Armed Services Committee.

Senator Hirono Receives Champion of Maritime Award

Honolulu, HI The American Maritime Partnership (AMP), the voice of the domestic maritime industry, today recognized U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) with the 2016 Champion of Maritime Award. Sen. Hirono is honored for her long-standing support and commitment to the men and women of American Maritime in her work on the Senate Armed Services Committee and as a Ranking Member of the Armed Services Subcommittee on Seapower and Energy.

Sen. Hirono understands the critical role the domestic maritime industry plays not just in Hawaii, but also in the nation’s economic, national and homeland security.

Rep. Hunter Receives Champion of Maritime Award

WASHINGTON The American Maritime Partnership (AMP), the voice of the domestic maritime industry recognized U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) Wednesday with the 2015 Champion of Maritime Award, which honored Hunter for his extraordinary support and dedication to the American Maritime Industry.

Rep. Hunter’s longstanding support for U.S. maritime is demonstrated through his work as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation and as a member of the Seapower Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee.

Senator McConnell Receives Champion of Maritime Award

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was named a Champion of Maritime by the American Maritime Partnership (AMP), the voice of the domestic maritime industry. As U.S. Senate Minority Leader, McConnell has consistently supported the critical role the domestic maritime industry and the Jones Act play in America’s national, economic and homeland security.

McConnell’s home state of Kentucky ranks fifth in the nation in per capita domestic maritime jobs, according to a recent study by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for the Transportation Institute.

Rep. King Receives Champion of Maritime Award

As a member and former chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) represents the voices of New York’s Second Congressional District, which is home to hundreds of high quality maritime jobs that are responsible for more than $38 million in economic activity.

During his time in Congress, Rep. King has been an outspoken advocate for a robust domestic maritime industry, which is essential to the advancement of the nation’s protection and security.

Senator Wicker Receives Champion of Maritime Award

Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) has been awarded the Champion of Maritime award from the American Maritime Partnership (AMP), a group representing the domestic maritime industry in Mississippi and across the United States.

Wicker was presented the award by a coalition of officials representing American shipyards, ship operators, seafarers, and pro-defense organizations at the VT Halter Marine shipyard. In presenting the award, Bill Skinner, president of VT Halter, called Sen. Wicker “a leader who understands and supports an industry that is so vital to our State and nation.”
