WASHINGTON – The American Maritime Partnership today announced it is honoring Rep. Jenniffer González-Colón with the celebrated American Maritime Champion Award. The award recognizes individuals or groups of individuals who have added to the rich heritage of the United States as a maritime nation through their professional contributions, courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.
In her role as the Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico, Rep. González-Colón has been an ardent supporter of the Jones Act and American Maritime as a whole. She is a member of the U.S. House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and possesses a deep understanding of the importance of a robust national maritime capacity. Rep. González-Colón is a champion of the Puerto Rican people on the issues that matter most to the Island.

Rep. Hunter’s longstanding support for U.S. maritime is demonstrated through his work as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation and as a member of the Seapower Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was named a Champion of Maritime by the American Maritime Partnership (AMP), the voice of the domestic maritime industry. As U.S. Senate Minority Leader, McConnell has consistently supported the critical role the domestic maritime industry and the Jones Act play in America’s national, economic and homeland security.
McConnell’s home state of Kentucky ranks fifth in the nation in per capita domestic maritime jobs, according to a recent study by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for the Transportation Institute.

Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) has been awarded the Champion of Maritime award from the American Maritime Partnership (AMP), a group representing the domestic maritime industry in Mississippi and across the United States.
Wicker was presented the award by a coalition of officials representing American shipyards, ship operators, seafarers, and pro-defense organizations at the VT Halter Marine shipyard. In presenting the award, Bill Skinner, president of VT Halter, called Sen. Wicker “a leader who understands and supports an industry that is so vital to our State and nation.”
