The American Maritime Partnership, the voice of the domestic maritime industry, today launched a new video highlighting the importance of the American maritime industry for national security, economic security, and homeland security. We encourage you to watch the video and see for yourself the American maritime industry at work – protecting American strength and American security.
Video Narration:
While we move about our daily lives, a fleet of 40,000 vessels, proudly American-made, crewed, and owned, navigates our waterways and delivers nearly one billion tons of goods each year.
They protect our coastline and inland waterways, and defend our nation’s freedom.
American maritime grows the U.S. economy by supporting over 650,000 family-wage jobs. Americans crew our vessels and build and repair our ships.
Both in times of war and peace, American maritime provides capacity and manpower that the armed forces can draw upon; ensuring we do not outsource American sovereignty and national security to other nations.
All of this is made possible because of the Jones Act.
The Jones Act protects our 95,000 miles of coastline and inland waterways, limiting inland access to foreign vessels and crews, and strengthening national and border security.
American Maritime. American Strength. American Security. Proudly, American.
